Cluster pays and tumbles
Five or more matching symbols touching side by side or up and down pay. Winners burst, the symbols above fall and new ones drop in, and the tumbles carry on while there are wins.
Win on the reef. Checkmate in the deep.
The story
Pearlreef is a shallow coral reef where sunlight falls through the water in shifting patterns. On the sandy floor lies a board of 36 sand pits, and every pit spins as its own reel.
The pieces are cheerful sea creatures: seahorses, sea snails, hermit crabs and jellyfish, with an octopus that fits in anywhere. When enough crowned pufferfish kings gather, the camera leaves the shore and sinks to the deep reef, where a chessboard is waiting.
There, your coral team plays the navy team move by move. You watch: every piece your side captures adds to the win, every piece it loses takes points away, and checkmating the navy king pays the maximum.
Features
Five or more matching symbols touching side by side or up and down pay. Winners burst, the symbols above fall and new ones drop in, and the tumbles carry on while there are wins.
The octopus stands in for every paying symbol and joins any cluster it touches.
When a winning round's tumbles end, a parrotfish can bite the letter symbols out of a whole row. New symbols fall in, always make a new win, and the chain goes on.
A school of sardines can sweep the board and eat every letter symbol at once. What falls in always pays, then the tumbles continue.
At the end of a winning round the clownfish can bring a pearl that multiplies the whole round's win by ×5, ×10, ×20 or ×50.
The crowned pufferfish never bursts. When the tumbles end, three or more kings open the chess bonus, and more kings give each side more moves, up to 13 at seven or more.
The chess bonus
The bonus sets up a random mid-game position on a 6×6 chessboard. Both sides play the best move a strong chess engine can find, so every game is real chess. Your coral team moves first.
